This project could be developed thanks to the effort made by the team, during a period of 6 exhaustive months. Thanks, Kathia Alfaro, Alan Sosa, Eduardo Zermeño for your great effort and ITESM Campus Puebla who give us the tools to work on it.
Earlier loneliness leads to social anxiety, paranoia, and depression. However, earlier social anxiety was the only predictor of future loneliness. According to the World Health Organization and The American Psychological Association, over 264 million people in the world are affected by anxiety, which, represents states of nervousness and constant-prolonged concerns, directly affecting the mental, physical and emotional state of a person.
Before we started the project, one of us was detected with anxious pathologies, for the rest of the team, the anxiety topic was only a myth, something unreal (A normal thought in our society). As the project was progressing we start discovering that several acquaintances, family, and friends were also being affected, but they were afraid to accept it. By analyzing their experiences, lifestyles, and backgrounds, we developed a persona and a Journey map to finally found a common pain point, breathing. Researching about it, with help of books, experiments, and support from professionals such as psychologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, exercise coaches, physics doctors, mathematic doctors, college teachers and yoga teachers, we understood the relationship of breathing and nervous system, also the importance of the breath as a self-control technique.
After ideation and iteration process, we propose a wearable bracelet, with GPS, that creates equilibrium states by synchronizing your breathing rhythms with a rhythmic tempo vibration; 24/7 monitoring of oxygen levels and heartbeats. It will be linked to a mobile application that contains breathing guides and daily feedback. At the end of your breathing training (8 months later) our empathetic model (Silver bracelet hidden in the wearable)will remind you: you weren’t, aren’t, and will not never be alone.
I learned how to follow a full methodology from select a problem unto sell the project to investors. But what is more important for me, is the amazing machine we have in our brains, and as another part of our body it could get sick, the anxiety is not synonymous of madness nor insanity, is only a mental sickness and it needs to be treated seriously as any other disease which could end with human lives.
